ABOUT US

HISTORY

AIT Home Delivery originally launched in 1989 as Panther Logistics, offering a general haulage service for more than two decades.

In 2011, after identifying a gap in the market, the company dispensed with its offering to focus on one key area – two-person delivery of furniture and other heavy items to consumers’ homes.

It was a bold move into new territory – but a golden opportunity.

Before long, the company was known for its dedicated premium, next-day, white-glove service which changed the face of two-person delivery, enabling consumers to order anything from a mattress to a full bathroom suite online and receive them the next day.

Customers from the e-commerce and retail sectors were reaping the rewards as the service helped them to improve their offering, win sales from their competitors, grow their businesses, and build their reputations.

AIT Home Delivery’s groundbreaking service revolutionised the final mile industry and the company continues to push the boundaries to bring the immediacy of high street shopping to the internet.

GROWTH

For the first 20 years, the company operated out of just one depot in Northamptonshire, at the heart of the UK’s motorway network.

But with the success of its two-person delivery service, the company enjoyed exponential growth, with a string of household names in the retail, e-commerce, appliance, furniture, and home entertainment industries being served by hundreds of teammates across a national network of nine locations. In November 2020, Panther was acquired by U.S.-based AIT Worldwide Logistics and in July 2024, the team rebranded as AIT Home Delivery, with the ability to offer the parent company’s global first- and middle-mile services to customers.

THE FUTURE

AIT Home Delivery is led by a senior management team whose collective experience in the industry exceeds 100 years.

For more than a decade, the ability to pre-empt customer needs and develop a service which brings the immediacy of the high street to online retail has enabled the company to change the face of not only its own business, but the whole of two-person delivery.

In its ongoing pursuit of excellence, AIT Home Delivery continues to invest heavily in its operations to maintain the company’s reputation for consistently high standards.

And to support AIT Worldwide Logistics’ primary sustainability goal – net-zero carbon emissions by 2035 (Scopes 1 and 2) – AIT Home Delivery participates in substantial ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycling activities.
